Detailed DesignProject Summary
Sproutt was engaged by the District Council of Yankalilla to deliver the detailed design for upgrades to Finniss Vale Drive. The scope included road geometry development to AGRD Part 3 standards, featuring road profiling and superelevation, as well as hydraulic modelling using DRAINS to assess and mitigate stormwater impacts. In response to longstanding drainage issues along the corridor, Sproutt provided a targeted drainage strategy to improve performance and resilience. The design phase has now been successfully completed, establishing a comprehensive framework to support future construction and long-term infrastructure outcomes.
Our Approach
Sproutt adopted a collaborative and solution-focused approach to the Finniss Vale Drive upgrade project, working closely with the District Council of Yankalilla to deliver tailored design options and outcomes. Through joint workshops and ongoing engagement, the team aligned design strategies with Council objectives, addressing both road geometry and longstanding stormwater management concerns. The civil design was developed in accordance with AGRD Part 3, incorporating detailed profiling and superelevation to support improved vehicle flow. Complementary hydraulic modelling using DRAINS informed a responsive drainage design that mitigates existing infrastructure constraints. The project stands as a strong example of partnership-driven delivery that balances technical integrity with local priorities.
Outcomes
Now complete to design stage, the Finniss Vale Drive upgrade establishes a solid framework for future improvements to the region’s transport and drainage infrastructure. Through close collaboration with the District Council of Yankalilla, Sproutt developed design options that address road geometry, water flow challenges, and long-term asset resilience. The final design supports safer vehicle movement via improved road profiling and superelevation, while the drainage strategy mitigates existing stormwater risks with targeted interventions informed by DRAINS modelling. These outcomes reflect Sproutt’s commitment to practical, Council-aligned infrastructure that balances engineering excellence with local priorities.
